1. We’ll finally get a winner in this first-ever best-of-three

The 2017 NBA Finals, surprisingly, gives fans the first time that two teams have met in the Finals for three straight years, and each team has taken one of the previous two battles.

What’s even greater about that fact is that the Cavaliers and the Warriors are both better than they previously were in the last two series, and they’re both healthy coming into this series.

There’s nothing better than a rematch, and that’s why the Cavaliers’ triumph over the Warriors last year was so special. Now, this year provides the chance to actually figure out who’s the best team out there. Sure, the Cavaliers were hurt in the two team’s first Finals matchup. Sure, the Warriors had a weird, hobbled version of Steph Curry playing in last year’s Finals. Now, there’s no excuses, and everything will finally be evenly matched.

Kevin Durant adds a new wrinkle to the whole situation to make it more interesting and different from the past two series, and there’s plenty to learn from and improve upon for those that were playing in last year’s Finals.

Next: Every NBA team's greatest playoff moment

One has to think this series will go the distance like last year’s battle, and that’ll only make the payoff that much better. You can argue all you want that we could see this same matchup next year, and for years after that, but enjoy the fact that (for now) we’re witnessing true history, and probably the greatest Finals series of all-time if each team plays up to their full potential.
