Brock Osweiler will be in a battle to earn the Cleveland Browns starting quarterback job for the 2017 NFL season, but he is off to a good start.

During the 2016 NFL season, Brock Osweiler looked nothing like the player the Houston Texans spent so much money to bring in to be their starting quarterback. So far with the Cleveland Browns, Osweiler has looked pretty good, and head coach Hue Jackson has noticed. Jackson said that Osweiler has been a “pleasant surprise,” and it looks like the veteran is going to get every opportunity to win the job.

One player who had a breakout season in 2016 was Jordan Howard, who finished second behind Ezekiel Elliott in rushing yards. Howard does not want to be seen as a “one-year wonder,” and is really looking to build upon his solid freshman season. The Chicago Bears are going to need every bit of him this season, as they head into the 2017 campaign with Mike Glennon at quarterback and star wide receiver Alshon Jeffery gone via free agency.

Dalvin Cook will likely get the bulk of carries for the Minnesota Vikings this season, as he signed his rookie deal on Wednesday. Cook was a record-breaking back during his time at Florida State, but had his fair share of issues off the field. He will join a backfield that already features Latavius Murray and Jerick McKinnon, as the three will look to replace a legend in Adrian Peterson in the 2017 NFL season.

The New York Jets are not expected to set the world on fire this season, though they may not be as bad as some think.  The big issue with the team will be at quarterback, where second-year pro Christian Hackenberg is sure to get a long look this summer. Star defensive lineman Sheldon Richardson told the New York Post that Hackenberg has a “cannon” for an arm but still needs work before he can be considered a finished product and lead the organization under center.

The duo of Al Michaels and Chris Collinsworth is breaking up for NBC’s Thursday Night Football this season, as Mike Tirico will join Collinsworth in the booth. Tirico and Collinsworth will have their first game together on November 9 and will continue until the season’s final broadcast in December. Last season, Michaels was part of the No. 1 broadcast team on both Sunday and Thursday Night Football, but the network decided to make a move this season.
