The Milwaukee continue to look for their next general manager and now their search has turned to Spurs’ assistant coach, Becky Hammon.

The Milwaukee Bucks are continuing to find their next general manager to lead their franchise. They’re trying to replace former GM John Hammond, who left to take the same role with the Orlando Magic. So the Bucks probably thought, let’s replace a Hammond with a Hammon.

According to Adrian Wojnarowski, the Bucks are reaching out to Spurs’ assistant and former WNBA legend Becky Hammon to be their next general manager. The Bucks have also requested permission to speak with Trail Blazers’ assistant GM Bill Branch, Heat’ assistant GM Adam Simon and Pistons’ assistant GM Pat Garrity.

This would be a transcendent move in the NBA because it would make Hammon the first female GM. Many thought that Hammon is on the fast track to become the first female head coach in the NBA, but this might be even better. Hammon has no real experience in an NBA front office, but it feels like she’s been a part of a franchise in every other way. She’s been a player, coach and now looking to complete the trifecta.

The 40-year-old is a former WNBA star, who played primarily for the New York Liberty and San Antonio Stars. She’s a six-time all star and was named to the All-WNBA First Team twice. In 2014, Hammon was hired as the first full-time female assistant coach. She also led the Spurs’ summer league squad in 2015 and proved her worth, leading the Spurs to a title.

Per Gregg Popovich, Hammon brings high basketball IQ and a great work ethic to the bench with the Spurs. She is now looking to make a jump to the NBA front office, as the Bucks is considering making her the next general manager.

Let’s see which way the Bucks decide to go in filling their GM job. We could have history brewing on our hands here.
