Chris Paul may be ready to leave Lob City, as reports say he’s giving serious consideration to the Western Conference rival Spurs in free agency.

The Los Angeles Clippers may be losing a lot of their key pieces this year to free agency, and Chris  Paul is seemingly not going to be an exception.

According to a report from Marc Stein, the point guard is apparently showing some serious consideration to the San Antonio Spurs, should he leave the Clippers.

The Spurs are in desperate need of a new point guard, with Tony Parker rising in age and falling victim to injuries, as was evident in the team’s postseason run this year. Paul would provide a star-studded change to San Antonio’s lineup, and would help to give Kawhi Leonard some help in order to make a run at the Golden State Warriors in the Western Conference if the Spurs can find the cap space for him.

The Clippers didn’t make it far in this year’s playoffs, losing to the Utah Jazz in the first round of the postseason in a seven-game series. Meanwhile, the Spurs made a run to the Western Conference finals, where they were eventually swept by the Golden State Warriors after losing Parker and Leonard to injuries.

The move would also give Paul the chance to make some noise in the postseason, as the Clippers have been unable to make it to the conference finals with their big three of Paul, Blake Griffin and DeAndre Jordan. Paul has a league record of 76 career playoff games without making it to the conference finals, and may want to leave Los Angeles for greener pastures soon for a title.

Should Paul leave the Clippers, the Spurs provide a nice fit for the point guard, who needs all the help he can get to make a run in the postseason at 32 years old.
