Day 6 of the 2017 French Open at Stade Roland Garros in Paris is in the books. Here is how the women’s singles tournament shook out on Friday, June 2.

While the men’s side of the singles tournament in the 2017 French Open at Stade Roland Garros in Paris was a little more chaotic on Friday, June 2, the women’s singles tournament was a little more calm. All seven of the completed matches saw the higher seed end up winning.

2016 French Open Champion in No. 4 Garbine Muguruza continues on her quest to win back-to-back women’s singles titles at Roland Garros. She knocked off No. 27 Yulia Puntintseva in straight sets, 7-5, 6-2 to advance to the fourth round of the tournament.

With her younger sister not participating in this year’s French Open, maybe we’ll see No. 10 Venus Williams channel her dominance from yesteryear? She defeated Elise Mertens, 6-3, 6-1 to advance to round four. Throughout the tournament, the elder Williams sister has been one of the most consistent players.

Only No. 11 Caroline Wozniacki and Catherine Bellis had their third round match suspended due to darkness. Wozniacki took the first set 6-2, while Bellis looks to be in control of the second set up 5-2 before the darkness took over at Roland Garros on Friday evening.

Here is how the rest of the women’s singles bracket shook out on Friday, June 2.

It was bound to happen to see a chalk day in the women’s tournament. There has already been so much chaos throughout the first five days at Stade Roland Garros. Muguruza looks like she can definitely win her second major at the French Open in a week or so with the way she’s playing now.
