Check out our preview and predictions for Sunday night’s WWE Extreme Rules pay-per-view.
On Sunday night, the WWE Extreme Rules pay-per-view will take place. It’s a Raw-exclusive show, the first since the April 30 Payback event.
Extreme Rules will be headlined by a Fatal Five-Way Match to determine the No. 1 contender to Brock Lesnar’s WWE Universal Championship. Finn Balor, Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, Samoa Joe and Bray Wyatt will all contend for this opportunity, but who will win?
This match is one of six set for the upcoming event, so let’s go through who will win all of them. Which Superstars will walk out with titles and future opportunities?
Sasha Banks and Rich Swann vs. Alicia Fox and Noam Dar
Feuds are intertwining here, as Rich Swann and Sasha Banks will battle Alicia Fox and Noam Dar. It’s the first time two 205 Live matches have been on a main WWE PPV card, along with Dar and Fox getting a rare Sunday night spotlight.
This match being on the Extreme Rules card seems like filler for five of Raw’s top stars being in one bout. However, it’s an opportunity for not only the 205 Live stars but for Banks and Fox, who are part of one of the few times WWE has featured two Raw matches with women on a PPV.
Will this tag team match mean much toward the landscape of WWE programming? Probably not — it’s four Superstars who are out of their respective title pictures. Maybe a win for either side will get them into the hunt, but it won’t significantly move the needle.
With that said, this seems like a match for Banks and Swann to win. It will get a cheap pop with light action, likely being slotted between two of the more important in-ring showings at Extreme Rules. Nothing more. Nothing less. Then the Boss potentially moves into the Raw Women’s Championship picture and Swann becomes a future contender to Neville or Austin Aries.
