The Pittsburgh Penguins won the first two games of the Stanley Cup Final, but with the series shifting to Nashville, the Predators are not done yet.

The Pittsburgh Penguins took advantage of home ice and won both games to open the Stanley Cup Final. For the first time in the playoffs, Nashville lost back to back games. Goalie Pekka Rinne has been awful against Pittsburgh after being unbelievable throughout the first three rounds. Rinne has allowed eight goals in the first two games, posting a 77.7 save percentage. For Nashville to get back in the series they need Rinne to play significantly better.

Matt Murray was fantastic in net for Pittsburgh stopping 37 of 38 shots in Game 2. Since taking over for Marc-Andre Fleury, Murray has a 94.3 save percentage. Despite not having a single defenseman ever receive a vote for the Norris Trophy as the NHL’s best defenseman, the Penguins unit has played well. There has been minimal drop off between the Penguins top defenseman and their sixth defenseman.

There is still reason for Nashville fans to be optimistic. The Predators have significantly out shot and out hit the Penguins through two games. If Nashville continues to be more physical and out shot the Penguins, the goals should eventually come. Offensively, Nashville needs Filip Forsberg to get more involved offensively. The Swedish winger has seven shots over the first two games but has not recorded a point.
