For Golden State Warriors center Zaza Pachulia, nothing’s easy. Especially catching a pass from shooting guard Klay Thompson. Pachulia was just all shoulder.

Golden State Warriors center Zaza Pachulia may be the Warriors’ fifth starter alongside point guard Stephen Curry, shooting guard Klay Thompson, small forward Kevin Durant and power forward Draymond Green, but he must be important because he starts.

Pachulia had come under fire during the 2017 Western Conference Finals thanks to his controversial close out of San Antonio Spurs small forward Kawhi Leonard on a jumper. Leonard would wreck his ankle and Pachulia would be largely responsible for Golden State sweeping their way to a third straight NBA Finals.

For Pachulia, nothing’s easy, especially catching a ball in transition from Thompson. Pachulia is mostly on the court to rebound and set screens, so why is Thompson passing him the ball? That cross-court pass hit Pachulia right in the shoulder for a careless turnover for the Warriors.

Frankly, it looked like Pachulia was doing his best imitation of George Michael Bluth catching some tossed car keys. Why would you want to use your hands when the shoulder or backside do just fine?

Pachulia and backup center JaVale McGee have a difficult task out for them in these NBA Finals: get in the way of Cleveland Cavaliers small forward LeBron James when he attacks the rim. If they can get under James’ skin to help keep Green out of foul trouble, Golden State has a shot at winning their second NBA title in three years in four or five games.

Pachulia has played in the NBA for a while, mostly with the Atlanta Hawks. He spent a good bit of his career with the Milwaukee Bucks and some with the Dallas Mavericks where he got all the All-Star votes in the world. It’s not easy being Pachulia, but for him it’s all about that Nothing Easy life.
