After a slow start to Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Finals, Calle Jarnkrok put the Predators on top 1-0.

The Nashville Predators have struggled to get off to strong starts in the Stanley Cup Finals against the Pittsburgh Penguins. After an uneventful first 10 minutes of the game, Calle Jarnkrok got a rebound past Matt Murray. However, it got reviewed. But after a lengthy look at the goal, it was deemed that there was no goaltender interference. It’s the first time in the series the Predators have gotten the first goal in the game.

That came dangerously close to interference, but the puck got past Murray before the contact occurred. Ever since they lost Game 2, Nashville has made it a point to be around the crease as often as possible. It pays immediate dividends for them and their first lead in the first two minutes of any Stanley Cup Finals game.

Jarnkrok’s goal is his second of the postseason. He now has seven points. Jarnkrok has been lifting up his game ever since the Predators lost star center Ryan Johansen with a lower body injury. This happened in the Western Conference Finals against the Anaheim Ducks.

Fans completed the goal with their infamous “hey you suck” chant. Nashville used to have “Rock and Roll Part Two” as their goal song. However, thanks to accusations against the singer, the Predators made the switch to a mixture of Tim McGraw’s “I Like It, I Love it” and Black Keys “Gold On The Ceiling”. That doesn’t stop Nashville fans from continuing the “hey, you suck” chants. It’s a bit of a tradition down there, just like throwing catfish.

Game 4 has taught us two things about the city of Nashville. It’s a fun town and it’s definitely a hockey city.
