Kobe Bryant threw a jarring jab at Jalen Rose in a new commercial, commemorating his historic 81-point performance back on Jan. 22, 2006.

Kobe Bryant appeared in a new commercial with Jalen Rose, giving him a side-splitting reminder of his historic 81-point performance against Rose back in 2006. The commercial begins with Rose walking into a restaurant, and Bryant calls him over so they can catch up.

Rose wasn’t too thrilled, as he new what was eventually going to come out of Bryant’s mouth. Bryant was explaining how he had been enjoying his retirement, then the inevitable happened.

Although it was still rather unexpected, and brilliantly acted out by the two.

Bryant orders up a alcoholic beverage known to contain olives, and he tells the waiter he would like 81 of them. Rose then gives Bryant a bleak look, that is sure to be featured in countless memes in the coming weeks.

Bryant and his Lakers took on Rose and the Raptors back on Jan. 22, 2006, and let’s just say nothing but a semi-truck busting through on the court could stop Bryant that night. Bryant scored 81 points that night, while shooting over 60 percent from the field. Of course the Lakers won that game, by a final score of 122-104. Bryants’ 81-point performance remains the second-highest scoring total in NBA history, behind Wilt Chamberlin’s 100-point performance back in 1962.

Bryant played for the Los Angeles Lakers for 20 seasons before he finally retired after the 2015-16 season. Although Bryant has accomplished numerous feats, and won a great amount of awards during his career, his 81-point performance is arguably his greatest. Although he wasn’t able to surpass Chamberlin’s 100-point performance, it’s hard to imagine that any player will come close to surpassing his phenomenal display. Bryant is essentially locked in to be a first-ballot Hall of Famer once he is eligible.
