Lane Kiffin stays making us all smile, offering a scholarship to a 7th grade quarterback.

It’s not college football season just yet, as the 2017 regular season is a few months away still, but there’s always time for a good Lane Kiffin story. The gift of college football that keeps on giving is at it once again this offseason, this time planning for the future — the very longterm future.

According to FOX Sports college football expert Bruce Feldman, the new Florida Atlantic coach has offered a scholarship to 7th grade quarterback Pierce Clarkson. Yes, you did indeed read that correctly. Young Pierce has just finished 6th grade and will be getting set to move on to his 7th grade venture this fall. Varsity football is still some time away for this young man.

As noted by Feldman, though, the offer might not be all that much of a stretch, as Pierce is the son of noted quarterback guru Steve Clarkson. So, in this case, you at least know that Pierce is going to have top-notch tutelage as he progresses throughout the years until it is time for him to choose a college destination.

It really seems that Kiffin had been taking some notes from his former boss — and nemesis, depending on who you ask — Nick Saban. The Alabama Crimson Tide head man has been known to make some offers to young men who haven’t hit high school yet, so Lane was paying attention to something that Saban did at least. He might not have run the dang ball as much as he should’ve, but he was on point with the recruiting lessons.

It should be noted that this isn’t the first time that Kiffin has pulled this since he arrived in Boca Raton, as he also offered the son of Tee Martin, Kaden.

Now we just wait and see whether or not Kiffin can be at the job long enough to welcome one or both of these young men in one day.
