The Twins have a minus-19 run differential, which is the worst mark for a first place team by 48 runs. Minnesota was outscored by 24 runs in a three-game sweep at the hands of the Astros, but bounced back to win three of four games in Anaheim against the Angels to finish the week with a slim lead in the division over Cleveland. Minnesota is now just 2.5 games ahead the hard-charging Tigers, who won five of six during the week.
Ervin Santana and Jose Berrios were terrific in the first quarter of the season, but both looked human in two starts last week. Berrios allowed six runs on 11 hits and six walks in 11 innings across two starts, and Santana surrendered nine runs (eight earned) on 12 hits and five walks in 11 frames spread across two starts.
Though the clubās top two starters had a relatively rough week, Miguel Sano bounced back from a substandard performance a week ago. Sano hit .381/.435/.810 with three home runs including a decisive two-run homer in the sixth inning of Sundayās 3-2 win over the Angels.
