2. Los Angeles Lakers

The Los Angeles Lakers definitely won’t be taking Josh Jackson if their current plans for Lonzo Ball go through in the 2017 draft, but they may be making a mistake.

The Lakers have the second overall pick this year, and the headlines have all been around them taking their Ball and going home. There have been rumors swirling about using Russell as a trade piece for their rebuild if the Lakers pick Ball, but the best play has to be to keep Russell, and then utilize their high pick to snag Jackson at number two overall.

Jackson would provide an immediate spark at a position that the Lakers desperately need it, and they’d still have the scoring touch that Russell gives them. They wouldn’t have to make any blockbuster trades, wouldn’t have to deal with the personality or locker room issues that bringing in a player like Carmelo Anthony to fill their small forward void would give them. It’s almost too perfect of a fit. They’d also avoid having to deal with LaVar Ball when they take his son, but that’s a story for another day.

Unfortunately, or maybe fortunately, for Jackson, the Lakers seem to have their hearts set. Jackson would fit right into their system, and would give a true, young foundation to build upon as they try to reclaim their past dominance.
