Stephen Curry might have double-dribbled when he beat LeBron James (Video)

This signature play from Game 2 saw Stephen Curry beat LeBron James in isolation. Did Curry end up getting away with a double-dribble here?
The Golden State Warriors took a 2-0 series lead in the 2017 NBA Finals very easily on Sunday night at home 132-113 against the Cleveland Cavaliers. Outside of their big three, Cleveland has gotten next to nothing from its playoff roster. Golden State has seen Stephen Curry and small forward Kevin Durant shine in the first two games of the series.
While Durant would be 2017 NBA Finals MVP if the series ended today, it was Curry that had the signature play on Sunday night in Oakland. He would take on James in isolation on one set, dribbling all over the floor before hitting a big shot.
The problem was that Curry might have double-dribbled on that possession. With James nearly leaving his feet to block Curry’s potential shot attempt out on the perimeter, should there have been another turnover on Curry?
It’s hard to see there, but check out this angle.

This is another example of the great, but frustrating improvisational skills at point guard for Curry. While many marvel at his ability to create his own shot off the dribble, there tends to be a level of recklessness with some of these plays.
Curry is an elite player, but he will turn the ball over a lot. No, this moment on the perimeter didn’t result in a turnover but this looks like far more than a hesitation dribble by Curry.

James is still a solid defender, though honestly past his prime on that end of the floor. However, he’s too much of a tactician to bite on routine hesitation dribbles. Did Curry double-dribble and get away with it? Probably, but it wasn’t blatant enough for the officials to blow that play dead.
