Former Arizona Cardinals linebacker Daryl Washington has eyes on Lombardi Trophy with the Dallas Cowboys.

The fit, or interest from the player is to be expected. Growing up in Irving, Texas and attending nearby TCU in Fort Worth, it should not be a shock to anyone that Daryl Washington has interest in playing for the Dallas Cowboys. Recently, Washington indicated he’s hoping to help raise the Lombardi Trophy for the Cowboys in 2017.

After entering the league in 2010 as a second-round selection of the Arizona Cardinals, Washington was a Pro Bowl selection in 2012, totaling 18 sacks and 394 tackles in his first four seasons. Washington signed a six-year contract extension in September 2012, but his promising career was derailed by an indefinite suspension in 2014 for both drug use and allegations of domestic abuse. It was not until recently, April 2017 that Washington was reinstated by the league.

In an article by Charean Williams from Pro Football Talk, Washington indicated that he’s ready to be the same player he was three years ago with the Cardinals. Washington makes a point to say he’s not the same person off the field that received the indefinite suspension three years ago, and that his reinstatement shows he did all the right things to get back into the NFL.

As of yet, Washington has not worked out for Dallas, spending his time in local gyms and various tracks, working to keep himself ready. It’s an opportunity Washington hopes happens with his local team, the Dallas Cowboys.

It should be pointed out that the Dallas linebacker situation could use help from an established veteran. However, with Rolando McClain’s continuing issues and the pending suspension of lineman David Irving, are the Cowboys willing to take a chance on the former Cardinals linebacker?
