DraftKings Main MLB Picks For June 7

We have a full slate today with nine early games. The Yankees-Jays game in the Bronx starts earlier than everyone else, so that game is only available on the all day tournament. However, we still have a few high priced pitchers with little mid-tier options. Is this the day to pay up for pitching? Let’s check some stats!

More from DFS

The money line was up at 132.1 last night. My mini Diamondback stack with Chase Anderson and James Paxton made the cut while the lineup with Robbie Ray just missed due to a few failed hitters.

The winning lineup was way up at 259.15 thanks to the 71 DraftKings points from Scooter Gennett and his four homers with 1.4% ownership. He also had Chris Archer and Robbie Ray and huge nights from every hitter but Cameron Rupp.

These picks are based mostly on statistical analysis . If you have a gut feeling, then by all means, follow that. This is not an exact science. The best lineups usually have a mix of proven stats and hot players. Check out this post from Matt McGarvey for great tips about whether to use a hot player in DFS or not.

DraftKings
Jun 1, 2017; Miami, FL, USA; Arizona Diamondbacks starting pitcher Zack Greinke (21) prepares to throw against the Miami Marlins at Marlins Park. Mandatory Credit: Steve Mitchell-USA TODAY Sports /

P: Zack Greinke ($12,400): I don’t trust Yu Darvish for the price right now, and the Royals have actually hit Dallas Keuchel pretty well. So I will turn to Greinke against the Padres and mound opponent Luis Perdomo. The Padres are hitting only .217 against Greinke in 138 at bats with three homers and only eight runs with 27 strikeouts. Greinke is earning his contract this year after a subpar first year in the desert. He has posted a 2.49 ERA in seven home starts this year.

P: Jimmy Nelson ($7,900): Nelson’s career numbers against the Giants aren’t great, but he has been dominant in his last two starts. The Giants have scored just four runs in the first three games of this series, and three of those were off of the bullpen. Nelson seems poised to shut them down again. He has given up just seven runs in his last six starts. Four of those were to the Blue Jays.

C: Sandy Leon ($2,700): Leon is 3-5 with a homer and four RBI in his career against CC Sabathia. Believe it or not, the Red Sox haven’t hit Sabathia all that hard. I don’t trust Sabathia or his mound opponent Rick Porcello, but there are better stack options tonight. However, Yankee Stadium is conducive to power, especially from the left side. It could be a night to load up on Yankee lefties.

1B: Paul Goldschmidt ($5,500): Goldie is 7-13(.538) with a double, two homers, five runs scored, and six RBI in his career against Luis Perdomo. He is worth this lofty price tag tonight!

2B: Scooter Gennett ($3,600): Yeah, so, I’m a day late and risking very high ownership. However, Gennett is 8-23(.348) with four walks, two doubles, four runs scored, two steals, and a RBI against Lance Lynn in his career. Don’t expect another 71 DraftKings points from him tonight, but double digits is not out of the question.

3B: Jake Lamb ($5,100): Lamb is 4-12 with two walks, a double, a triple, a homer, three runs scored, and four RBI in his career against Perdomo. Surprisingly, Perdomo has fared better on the road than at home this year. The fact still remains that his ERA is on the wrong side of five. I like Lamb to get a couple of knocks off of him again.

SS: Aledmys Diaz ($3,200): Diaz is 2-5 with a walk against Bronson Arroyo. Both of those hits are home runs and he has driven in four. Diaz looks like a great bargain tonight. Arroyo has been much better at home, but his ERA there is still 5.35. The Cardinals could be a nice stack for tonight while not spending a ton of your cap space.

OF: Corey Dickerson ($4,700): Dickerson has a double in three career at bats against Mike Pelfrey, but that’s not why I’m playing him. I’m playing Dickerson because he is leading off against a pitcher that has a 4.79 road ERA in four starts this year. Pelfrey has been better than just about anyone would have imagined. We all keep waiting for an implosion here, that is why I’m not going with a full blown Rays stack. I will go with their leadoff hitter and hope for the best.

OF: Melky Cabrera ($2,900): Melky is 3-12 with a double, a run scored, and a RBI in his career against Jake Odorizzi. However, I am playing him mostly for a cheap bat that is hitting well lately and in a favorable spot in the order. I don’t expect anything huge from Melky, but a double digit day is not out of the question.

OF: Eric Young Jr. ($2,000): Young has been an outstanding fill-in for Mike Trout since the Angels star went down. He has only been held scoreless in one of the eight games while posting five games of more than 10 DraftKings points. He is a huge bargain for this price no matter who he is hitting against.

May 27, 2017; Houston, TX, USA; Houston Astros right fielder George Springer (4) celebrates after scoring a run during the first inning against the Baltimore Orioles at Minute Maid Park. Mandatory Credit: Troy Taormina-USA TODAY Sports /

P: Michael Fulmer ($8,500): Fulmer looks like a steal tonight at this price. The Angels are hitting just .186 against him in 43 at bats with just two runs scored and eight strikeouts. His mound opponent is Alex Meyer, who has pitched better lately, but he still owns a 4.91 ERA. Fulmer should have a strong game tonight.

P: Ty Blach ($6,700): Jerad Eickhoff has great numbers against the Braves so far, but he has never pitched at SunTrust Park. I find it hard to trust any right handed pitcher there, so I will go with Blach instead, who was brilliant in Philadelphia his last time out. The Brewers present significant risk, but Blach has six quality starts in his last seven tries with the only exception being a disaster at Great American Ballpark. Miller Park is a hitter’s park, but mostly for left handed power, which Blach will neutralize throwing from that side. Don’t expect another shutout, but 20 DraftKings points for this price should be considered a win. He has a good shot at that.

C: Evan Gattis ($3,800): Gattis has only faced Jason Vargas twice, with a single being his only hit. This is more geared towards the Astros’ .292 career average against Vargas and his recent struggles. Vargas has been much better at home, where he has managed to limit fly balls. However, there is a reason that the Astros have won 13 in a row. They are as hot as any team right now. I doubt Vargas can cool them off.

1B: Chris Davis ($4,600): Chad Kuhl has an ugly 6.02 ERA on the season, and Camden Yards is not going to help that. Neither is the team that plays in it. Davis is starting to heat up, smacking three homers and driving in seven over the last six games. I’m thinking he keeps it up tonight against Kuhl.

2B: Jose Altuve ($5,500): Altuve is 5-12 with a homer, a steal, two runs scored, and three RBI in his career against Vargas. Vargas has been very good this year, but the Yankees got to him twice within the last month. The Astros are a better offensive team though they are built similarly.

3B: Manny Machado ($4,700): Machado has 57 DraftKings points over the last five games, and that was after a scoreless effort last night! I will take him against a struggling pitcher. His price is still low reflecting his recent slump, but he seems to have broken out of that. Machado could be in for a big game.

SS: Erick Aybar ($2,200): Stacking Orioles and Astros gets expensive. I needed salary relief, but this isn’t a total shot in the dark. Aybar has hit Zack Greinke well in his career. He is 12-35(.343) with two walks, five doubles, a homer, four runs scored, two steals, and three RBI against Greinke in his career. I like those odds!

OF: George Springer ($5,700): Springer has 23 hits, including seven homers, in his last 11 games. This price is outrageous, but I dare you to find evidence that it isn’t warranted. Springer is the hottest hitter in baseball right now. I definitely want him in my lineup until he cools off.

OF: Adam Jones ($4,500): Jones is near the top of the order for a team that could score quite a few runs tonight. I want him as part of my Orioles stack!

OF: Seth Smith ($3,700): Smith is leading off for a potent offense with another righty on the hill tonight. He is hitting .284 at home this season, and has slugged two homers in the last three games. Smith scuffled towards the end of May, but he is off to a good start in June. He should be able to keep that up tonight.
