The Warriors are two games away from pulling off the NBA’s first-ever perfect postseason. However, Golden State isn’t the only team to enter the NBA Finals with a chance at perfection.

Today on the Over and Back Classic NBA Podcast, Jason Mann and Rich Kraetsch look at eight other teams who chased perfection into the NBA Finals. We’ll look at each team’s regular season record, key players and playoff path. We’ll dig deep into their chances at perfection, how long they remained perfect into the NBA Finals and, of course, if they ended their nearly-perfect season with an NBA Championship.

Teams and players feature include George Mikan and the 1949 & 1950 Minneapolis Lakers, Dolph Schayes and the 1954 Syracuse Nationals, rookie Bill Russell and the 1957 Boston Celtics, Bob Petit’s 1957 St. Louis Hawks, the turbulent 1982 Los Angeles Lakers, the too-dominant-for-their-own-good 1989 Los Angeles Lakers and the 2001 Los Angeles Lakers who were one all-time great Allen Iverson game from perfection. You’ll also receive an extensive breakdown of Horace Grant’s trade to the Seattle Supersonics with a little help from our friends at NBATrades.
