Midfielder Christian Pulisic continues to be an American soccer prodigy, as he puts two goals in the back of the net against Trinidad and Tobago.

The United States were playing their second game in altitude before making the trek to dreaded Estadio Azteca to face arch rival Mexico. After a scoreless first half against Trinidad and Tobago at DSG Park in Commerce City, Colorado, American midfielder Christian Pulisic went off with two big goals to lift America early in the second half.

The first goal was set up by a few good touches by midfielder Darlington Nagbe. He would kick it inside to forward Clint Dempsey near the box who would kick it back to Nagbe on a give-and-go.

With no real shot at the goal, Nagbe would swing it back outside to defender DeAndre Yedlin. Yedlin would thread the needle perfectly to hit a sliding Pulisic for an impressive first goal at the 52-minute mark.

That was Pulisic’s third goal in four games, but no, he wasn’t done put goals in the back of the net. 10 minutes later, Pulisic would cross midfield before sending it Yedlin’s way again on the right side.

Yedlin would feed it to forward Jozy Altidore as the perfect decoy for Pulisic to make another run. Altidore’s pass would be placed perfectly so Pulisic could receive it right in the box past the back line. Pulisic would perfectly curve it in around the Trinidad and Tobago goaltender for his second goal of the game at the 62-minute mark.

This was an important game for the United States during the fifth round of World Cup qualifying. The men’s national team needed a win to make things easier for when they take on Mexico in Estadio Azteca on Sunday. Just getting a draw in Mexico City would be huge. If Pulisic keeps playing like this, maybe the United States shocks us all and wins in Azteca?
