According to Zach Lowe of ESPN, Draymond Green began his pursuit of Kevin Durant as soon as Game 7 of the 2016 NBA Finals concluded.

Many dispute Kevin Durant going to the Golden State Warriors. It’s a tired but heavily critical argument among NBA fans, casual or dedicated. In fact, when my brother comes home from college we debate his decision nearly every day. While the average person disagrees on his decision, it’s pretty obvious from the teams overall play that he made the right decision.

The Warriors, who are one game away from becoming the first 16-0 NBA Champion, have clicked on all cylinders this season and the NBA Playoffs. Durant, along with Steph Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green form the NBA’s most dangerous core.

But the formation of this group, according to Zach Lowe of ESPN, happened long before the offseason. Draymond Green began his pursuit of Durant immediately after Game 7 of last year’s Finals.

"Green was already working on that as he left Oracle Arena after that gutting Game 7 loss. Green sat in his car in the parking and called Myers, telling him he had to sign Durant. “It’s on you,” Green told Myers.Green hung up, stayed in the parking lot, and made another call — to Durant. “That was my very next call,” Green said. Two weeks later, Durant signed a maximum contract that put him in a Golden State uniform for at least one season, with several more seasons likely to come."

With this information going public, it begs the question of will this make the Warriors even more hated? Picture the scenario; the Warriors were already talented and deep. They just completed the greatest NBA regular season in history. But, Curry and Thompson, according to Green, wasn’t enough. It will be interesting to find out how the team reacted to Green’s pursuit whenever that news leaks.
