Sidney Crosby and P.K. Subban continued their rivalry in Game 5 of the Stanley Cup Final, with Crosby aggressively shoving Subban’s head into the ice.

The Pittsburgh Penguins and the Nashville Predators are in the midst of a heated battle in the Stanley Cup Final, and two of the league’s most popular/hated players have had a feud of their own through the series.

Penguins captain Sidney Crosby and Predators defenseman P.K. Subban have battled on the ice plenty throughout the first four games of the series, and even had some not-so-nice comments for each other after the games ended as well. It all started with some trash talk between the two after a Predators win in Game 3, which apparently involved Crosby telling Subban he had some bad breath that he should work on.

Now, the bad breath talk has apparently escalated, with Crosby taking it a step too far. In the first period of Game 5, Crosby and Subban were tussling behind the Penguins’ net, and wound up on the ice. Crosby ended up aggressively slamming Subban’s head into the ice multiple times, and the teams earned matching penalties for the action.

While it was a bit confusing as to why Crosby didn’t get an additional two-to-three minutes added on to the original holding penalty call that each received, both ended up leaving the game for the rest of the period.

The animosity between the two seemed harmless at first, with Subban responding to the bad breath comments with some jokes in postgame interviews, and even bringing a bag full of Listerine to Game 4 of the series. Now, it’s obviously escalated, and can only get worse from here.

Maybe instead of the cold flavor of the ice, Crosby could just give Subban some cold, refreshing mouthwash next time to fix his breath.
