According to the latest rumors, Chelsea’s leading scorer could be heading out the door.

Spanish striker Diego Costa has reportedly been informed that he will need to find somewhere else to continue his football career. Following Spain’s 2-2 draw with Colombia, Costa shared a few words regarding his current situation at Chelsea.

According to The Guardian:

"“My relationship with the coach has been bad this season. I suppose I’ve had a bad season so I can’t go on. I’m going to be honest, the other day, Conte sent me a message saying he does not count on me for next season, so I’ll have to find a way out.”"

Rumors have seemingly surrounded Costa for the last two seasons, most recently it has been rumored that he is heading for China. In addition, Costa recently acknowledged his affinity for returning to previous club Atletico Madrid.

That reunion, however, is put on hold by Atletico’s transfer ban. Meaning if Costa does want to go back to Spain, he will have to find a temporary stay somewhere else. All of this is coming off of three seasons where Costa was Chelsea’s leading scorer. In those three seasons, Chelsea have won the Premier League title twice.

However, Chelsea are keen to bring former starlet Romelu Lukaku back to London, meaning Costa is expendable. Apparently Conte believes the club will be better off without Costa, and why not? As talented as he is, Costa comes with a lot of baggage. His on field antics can take a toll on his teammates and coaching staff.

The rumors surrounding his exit quite frankly aren’t surprising, its been a long time coming. However getting rid of a proven goal scorer is a treacherous task that has a small margin for error. Hopefully Chelsea and boss Antonio Conte are making the right decision.
