Dahntay Jones gets a random technical foul on the bench for the Cleveland Cavaliers in a Game 4 he’s clearly not going to play in unless it’s a blowout.

It doesn’t matter what he said because Dahntay Jones definitely didn’t deserve that random technical foul he received in the second quarter of Game 4 of the 2017 NBA Finals. Jones played his one regular season game for the Cleveland Cavaliers this season. It was a glorious 12 minutes against the Brooklyn Nets back in April.

Jones isn’t a regular season player anymore. He’s mostly there with the Cleveland Cavaliers to be a guy to go get fouls on the opposition in the playoffs, occasionally getting in people’s heads. He hasn’t played since Game 2 of the NBA Finals against the Golden State Warriors, but here he is getting teed up for whatever reason.

Jones was not too thrilled about it either. That’s a ton of NBA salary he doesn’t make that he’d be wasting on a technical foul. Last year, LeBron James put a Jones tech on his tab and helped his teammate out. Could he do the same?

Well, Cleveland needs to do what J.R. Smith’s Twitter account said on Wednesday night and be “Cavs in 7.” for that to happen. James isn’t picking up the tech tab on a loser teammate of his if the Cavaliers don’t win. For Jones’s sake, let’s hope the 2017 Cavaliers channel their inner 2004 Boston Red Sox and win four games in a row facing elimination.

It’s off to a good start for the Cavaliers in Game 4. They nearly hung half a hundred on the visiting Warriors in the first quarter. You can totally blame James for missing missing a free throw in that record-setting first quarter effort. It was a great first quarter for the Cavaliers that has turned into a solid first half. Except for Jones. He still got teed up in his warm ups for chilling on the Cavaliers bench.
