2018 Triple Crown schedule
With the 2017 Triple Crown schedule completed, it’s never too early to look forward to 2018. Here’s the complete 2018 Triple Crown schedule.
Even though the 2017 Triple Crown season is over, horse racing fanatics can’t wait for the 2018 season to begin. Each year, it starts the first weekend in May and ends the second weekend of the June. It’s one of the most exciting, if not the most exciting, times of the year for horse racing fans.
Hopefully next year will bring a Triple Crown challenger. Always Dreaming, who won at the Kentucky Derby, appeared to be one. However, he lost to Cloud Computing at the Preakness Stakes. Neither Always Dreaming nor Cloud Computing will even get a chance to win two of the three Triple Crown races, as they won’t be racing at the 2017 Belmont Stakes. There are some promising horses coming up next year, though, so 2018 should have a serious Triple Crown contender.
2018 will mark the 150th running of the Belmont Stakes, making it a historic season. It will also be the 144th running of the Kentucky Derby and 143rd running of the Preakness Stakes. Each race has been going on for a very long time, giving the 2018 participants a very high bar to match. The speed record for each course is held by Secretariat, who set the records back in 1973. His records will be next to impossible for any horse to match, as time has proven.
