Colleagues of Adam West congregated around Twitter to pay their respects following West’s lost battle with leukemia.
Whatever moniker you may associate him with — as the original Cape Crusader or as Mayor West — Adam West was more than just superlatives.
For Adam West, Batman wasn’t supposed to be his ticket to everlasting game. If there’s any explanation to the popularity of today’s growth of “Bat Fans,” it’s because of Adam West’s uniqueness that really gave the franchise a spark for years, defining a certain era of Batman history until darker interpretations took hold later on.
West also contributed to the smiles brought on by Mayor West, the dumbfounded yet light-hearted mayor of a small town in Rhode Island. It turned out to be an opportunity where West’s natural sense of humor was put to good use right up to his final days.
West certainly touched the lives of others. He was a selfless man whose goal was to only make you smile if you had a bad day. Those lives, like Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane’s, were impacted with positive energy and optimism. And with the news of his death, those affected by him wanted to be heard, so they got in touch via Twitter.

From defending Gotham to Quahog, Adam West was a family man whose comedy never went unnoticed. He exposed himself in Starring Adam West, a documentary that showed West in his raw state. For whatever it’s worth, West wasn’t about quantity in terms of his career in Hollywood. Instead, he focused on the smaller details, like remaining humble and being a good father to his six children.
