Belmont Stakes 2017 Field
The 2017 Belmont Stakes will be held on Saturday, June 10. Here’s a list of the entire field of 12 horses who will be racing in the main race.
On Saturday, June 10, the last leg of the infamous Triple Crown trio will be ran. Unlike most years, this year won’t feature the buildup of a potential winner of all three races. Always Dreaming, despite a very dominant win at the Kentucky Derby, got beat by Cloud Computing at the Preakness. Neither of those two horses will be racing at the Belmont Stakes on Saturday, but it should still be a very good time. The race will be held at Belmont Park in Elmont, New York. Post time is at 6:37 p.m. ET.
The field is led by one of the most intriguing horses in Belmont history. Patch is a one-eyed horse. Very few of his kind are able to race despite the condition. Even fewer are able to place inside of the top 10. Patch will have an entire nation rooting for him. He has an excellent pedigree, as he’s the son of 2012 Belmont winner Union Rags.
Here’s a list of the entire field, accompanied by their post number. Odds are as of Friday afternoon.

As you can see, Irish War Cry is the favorite to win at 7-2. Don’t count out Tapwrit at 6-1 or Lookin at Lee at 7-1. Gormley has underachieved at the Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes, but he’s still tempting at 9-1 odds. Patch has the odds stacked against him, listed at 13-1 odds. However, he’s overcome far worse, so don’t count the one-eyed horse out. It should be an exciting race with a competitive field.
