What channel is Belmont Stakes 2017 on?
Here’s how you can watch the final leg of the 2017 Triple Crown on Saturday evening from Belmont Park.
The 2017 Triple Crown is set to conclude with the running of the Belmont Stakes on Saturday from Elmont, New York.
Following Cloud Computing’s victory in the Preakness Stakes in Baltimore three weeks ago, no horse will be bidding for a rare Triple Crown win this year. Both Cloud Computing and Kentucky Derby champion Always Dreaming will be absent from Belmont Park this weekend, while likely favorite Classic Empire is out due to a foot injury, leaving a wide-open field.
While that has certainly taken some of the shine off this weekend’s festivities, the Belmont Stakes will remain one of the most anticipated events on the horse racing calendar no matter what. Saturday’s national television coverage will begin at 5:00 p.m. Eastern on NBC, with post time for the 2017 Belmont Stakes set for 6:37 p.m.
Prior to the start of the main event, NBCSN will carry live coverage of a handful of undercard races from 3-5 p.m. Bob Costas and Mike Tirico will host NBC’s coverage in primetime alongside analysts Randy Moss and Jerry Bailey.
The 12-furlong Belmont dates back to 1850 and is nicknamed The Test of the Champion due to its 1.5-mile distance, making it the longest leg of the Triple Crown. While there’s no shot at Triple Crown immortality on Saturday, the Belmont Stakes winner will take home $800,000 as part of a $1.5 million overall purse.

With Classic Empire out, Irish War Cry takes over the position as morning-line favorite with 3-1 odds. Epicharis is not far behind at 7-2 but did not train on Thursday due to a right leg injury and is questionable to run this weekend, while Lookin at Lee (5-1), Tapwrit (6-1) and Gormley (7-1) are also expected to be in the mix.
