The Stanley Cup will be at Bridgestone Arena as the Pittsburgh Penguins look to win their second consecutive Stanley Cup in Game 6 against the Nashville Predators.

After getting blown out in Nashville in games three and four, the Pittsburgh Penguins returned home and crushed the Predators 6-0. The win leaves Pittsburgh another win away from becoming the first team to win back-to-back Stanley Cups since the 1997-98 Detroit Red Wings.

The Penguins were better than the Predators from the drop off the puck in Game 5. Sidney Crosby cruised passed the Nashville defense drawing a hooking penalty to set up Pittsburgh’s first goal. By the end of the period, the Penguins were up 3-0. Evgeni Malkin and Phil Kessel were both on the scoresheet, ending their playoff point droughts.

Nashville goalie Pekka Rinne was pulled for the second consecutive game in Pittsburgh. Rinne allowed three goals on nine shots. If Rinne bounces back the Predators will likely head back to Pittsburgh for a decisive Game 7. However, if Rinne struggles again the Predators miracle Stanley Cup run will end on home ice.

The Predators need more out of leading scorer Filip Forsberg. Forsberg’s lone point of the series was an empty net goal. If Nashville does not get production from the Forsberg line their chance of forcing a Game 7 are significantly diminished.

If the Penguins do win the Stanley Cup in Game 6, Crosby and Malkin will likely be the top two candidates for the Conn Smythe Trophy as the MVP of the playoffs. Malkin has 28 points in 24 playoff games, while Crosby has 27 points in 23 games.
