If LeBron James were to participate in a 3-on-3 tournament, he would pick Michael Jordan and Magic Johnson as his running mates.

3-on-3 basketball is a game that many basketball players from all over the world play. It doesn’t require a lot of space (half of a court is more than enough) and you don’t need a full roster to play games. So it’s no surprise that this game has been on the rise lately, with the development of the BIG3 League and the International Olympic Committee adding it their list of competitions for 2020.

During a press conference over the weekend, The Associated Press asked LeBron James who he would pick to be on his 3-on-3 team and James immediately named two NBA legends. However, when asked who he would pick from players still in the league, the former MVP said he that he has to think about it.

Per CBS Sports:

"LeBron James knows who his dream teammates would be in a 3-on-3 competition at the 2020 Olympics — Michael Jordan and Magic Johnson.Jordan and Johnson’s names came to James without any hesitation when asked by The Associated Press which past greats he would like to play with. The Cavaliers star was a bit more reserved when he came to picking present day players.“I don’t know, I have to think about it,” James said."

Getting the chance to see these three players on the court at the same time would have been amazing in itself, let alone seeing them play on the same team. However, the chances of us getting to see this trio run plays together is pretty slim as James isn’t that into 3-on-3. In the same press conference, he said that he probably wouldn’t participate in the tournament, but he feels it is “great for basketball.”

“I’m not very good in a 3-on-3 thing. I’m more of a 5-on-5 guy. I stay out of the 1-on-1 matchups during our practice, the 2-on-2 and the 3-on-3s. So probably not. I probably won’t be a part of the 3-on-3 matchup,” James said.

But you should never say never. In a decade or so, after James has been out the league for a few years, he might get an itch for completive basketball, and decide to link up with Johnson and Jordan to play in the BIG3. This most likely won’t happen, but we could still wish.
