National League Division Leaders
NL East
Washington Nationals (38-24, .613)
Forgive the Nationals if motivation is lacking in mid-June. A hot start to the season, combined with a weak NL East, helped Washington build a commanding double-digit lead in the division race through the first two months.
The Nats picked up two wins in three games in Los Angeles, and a win over the nearby Orioles in a late week makeup game, but were swept by the Rangers in D.C. over the weekend. Max Scherzer picked up strikeout No. 2,000 Sunday, but couldn’t help salvage the final game as the Nationals lost 5-1.
NL Central
Milwaukee Brewers (33-31, .516)
The Brewers haven’t won a series since winning three of four games against the lowly Padres in San Diego May 15-18. Nevertheless, Milwaukee still managed to hold on to the top spot in the AL Central for another week. Chase Anderson tossed 7.2 scoreless innings June 6 to help the club to a four-game split with the Giants. Anderson was nearly as good Sunday against the Diamondbacks, and allowed just one run on four hits in six innings, but took the loss in the rubber game in Arizona.
NL West
Colorado Rockies (41-24, .631)
The Rockies have yet to fail a test in the National League West. Despite constant pressure from the Dodgers and D-Backs, Colorado held on to first place in the NL West after sweeping two games against the Indians during the week before traveling to Chicago and beating the Cubs in three out of four at Wrigley Field.
