NBA Finals: Andre Iguodala explodes on powerful transition jam (Video)

Golden State Warriors forward Andre Iguodala had his mind up about attacking the rim with conviction on this sensational transition slam against Cleveland.

That Andre Iguodala is a real wild one. Not really, but he has been a huge part of the Golden State Warriors success these last few years. He comes off the bench as their sixth man of sorts, providing great defense and the occasional offensive outburst.

The Warriors were trying to reclaim the lead on Cleveland Cavaliers in the second quarter of Game 5 of the 2017 NBA Finals when Iguodala simply went off. He picked up the rock off a Cleveland turnover. From there, it was all about getting to the Cavaliers rim as quickly as possible.

Iguodala pushed the ball up the floor with the speed of a gazelle, taking off near the free throw line on a powerful jam. Cavaliers small forward LeBron James wisely got out of the way of Iguodala doing his Thor impersonation. Otherwise, it would have been a certain posterization of James by Iguodala.

That dunk by Iguodala forced a Cleveland timeout. The home crowd at Oracle Arena erupted after the best highlight for the Warriors up to that point. Golden State stands one win away from winning its second NBA Championship in three years. A win would help usher in possibly the greatest three-year stretch of any team in the modern NBA.

Iguodala was the 2015 NBA Finals MVP in Golden State’s last NBA Championship. It was fitting, as he sacrificed his starting role to help his team achieve new heights. While he wouldn’t win another NBA Finals MVP this time around should Golden State win, it might be his highlight reel dunk that ignited a Game 5 close-out victory for the Warriors. Cleveland did start to fall apart after this dunk.
