The NBA Finals continues into Monday night, which pushes the regularly scheduled ABC show, Still Star-Crossed, off the docket this week.
We all have certain expectations when it comes to anything that flies under the Shondaland banner. But the second trailers for Still Star-Crossed started appearing during TGIT, I think we all felt the same feeling: Still Star-Crossed would struggle to match up to established shows like Grey’s Anatomy, Scandal or even the newer How to Get Away with Murder.
Of course, Shondaland isn’t infallible.
The Catch debuted as a mid-season replacement for How to Get Away with Murder
but was canceled at the end of season 2. (Literally the day of the season finale.) So sometimes things work, and sometimes, ABC opts to pull the plug. So far, Still Star-Crossed only aired two episodes … but will it make it to the end of the season?
It’s already been pushed to the back burner because of Monday’s NBA Finals game. If it takes a week off and loses momentum, will people return the following week and tune in? LeBron James and the Cavaliers made a strong comeback on Friday after losing three games in a row. They pulled out a 137-116 victory over the Golden State Warriors. I know, “who cares?”, right? Well, I’m explaining it because it hit ABC out of nowhere. Of course, Game 4 was always a possibility. But after falling behind so pathetically, everyone assumed the series would wrap on Friday.
Monday, we all thought we’d be watching Still Star-Crossed, but thanks to the Cavaliers, there’s no new episode of Still Star-Crossed tonight, Monday, June 12.

So what can you watch instead if you’re not a basketball fan? Well, did you finish binge-watching Orange is the New Black season 5? I haven’t even started yet because I’m still on House of Cards, but you know what I mean. Summer’s are for Netflix anyway.
