After the Pittsburgh Penguins repeated as Stanley Cup Champions, Triple H had a special custom WWE title belt for them.

The entire city of Pittsburgh is celebrating. Once again, the self-proclaimed City of Champions is living up to its hype. With a 2-0 win in Game 6 over the Nashville Predators, the Pittsburgh Penguins have successfully repeated as Stanley Cup champions. They’re the first NHL team to do so since the 1996-97 and 1997-98 Detroit Red Wings. For their special accomplishment, WWE superstar Triple H made a custom WWE title belt for the Pens.

This is a nice title belt. But with all due respect, why not make it more unique? It’s extremely hard to win back-to-back titles in any professional sport. In the NHL, it’s even harder thanks to the salary cap and how grueling an 82 game season can be. Such a special accomplishment deserves better than a title belt that resembles the one the Chicago Cubs got. Not to diminish what the Cubs did, but what the Pens did is arguably even more impressive.

The title defense was certainly not easy for Pittsburgh. They were one of the most injured teams in the NHL during the regular season, losing just about every important player at some point for at least a short period of time. Everyone thought the Pens were done after Kris Letang’s tragic injury, which kept him out of the postseason and could shorten his career.

But, like a true champion, Pittsburgh prevailed. Led by two-time Conn Smythe winner Sidney Crosby and star center Evgeni Malkin, the Penguins prevailed. Their path was tough, having to beat the Columbus Blue Jackets, Washington Capitals, Ottawa Senators and Predators along the way. Two of those series went to seven games. Triple H knows all about winning titles, so getting a congratulations from him is pretty cool.
