Alvaro Morata appears to be closing in on a move to Manchester United after his agent was seen arriving at the Bernabeu to speak with Real Madrid officials.

Alvaro Morata’s transfer from Real Madrid to Manchester United appears to be moving closer, as Morata’s agent is reportedly at the Bernabeu discussing the move with Real Madrid officials, per Kaveh Solhekol of Sky Sports. With the Red Devils opting not to re-sign Zlatan Ibrahimovic last week, there was chatter that something big was in the works. It seems United had their sights set on Spanish striker Alvaro Morata.

The official fee hasn’t been confirmed, but reports suggest the fee could be as high as £70 million ($89.5 million). While that’s a hefty fee, Morata is a lethal striker, something Manchester United are currently lacking in their squad.

Manchester United were only able to score 54 goals in the Premier League last season, with 17 of them coming from newly-departed Ibrahimovic. Juan Mata finished as the second leading scorer in the league for United, and he only scored six goals. Marcus Rashford, Paul Pogba and Wayne Rooney all finished with five goals.

With an obvious lack of goalscoring in the squad, it’s less than surprising to see United willing to fork out such a hefty fee for the Spaniard. His ability to score and create goals will be welcomed with open arms, as the Red Devils will be hoping to challenge for a spot in the top four in the Premier League along with competing in the Champions League again.

Morata will be just as happy to come to Manchester, as being the main man up top is what every striker wants for their career. The 24-year old striker made 26 appearances in La Liga for Real Madrid last season, but started only 14 matches. He scored 15 goals.
