Round 1 of the 2017 US Open at Erin Hills has concluded. Check out all the video highlights from the first round of the second major tournament of the year.
It was an interesting first day at Erin Hills in the 2017 US Open Championship. There was a great deal of good golf with several players really taking advantage of the long and wide fairways, shooting well under par.
There might have been an incident involving the explosion of the blimp hovering above the golf course earlier in the day, but the second major of the tournament pressed on. A few of the players that played very well out of the gate include Rickie Fowler, Paul Casey and Xander Schauffele.
Fowler shot a brilliant 65 on the par-72 course to finish his first day at Erin Hills at an impressive seven under par. He hit seven birdies on the day and did not shoot under par on any of the holes on Thursday.
Casey and Schauffele more than held their own at Erin Hills on Thursday. Both golfers shot 66 on the day, giving them a first-round score of six under par. Casey would hit an eagle on No. 1 and birdie an additional six holes. However, he would bogey No. 4 and No. 10 be tied with Schauffele at six under. Schauffele made an impressive six birdie putts and didn’t bogey a hole all day.
It should be noted that Brian Hartman, Tommy Fleetwood and Brooks Koepka are all tied for fourth place through Round 1 at five under par. Here are all the video highlights from the first day of action at Erin Hills in the 117th US Open Championship.

Can Fowler keep this up at Erin Hills? Probably not, as shooting a seven under on the first day is ridiculous. However if can continue to add to his lead on Friday and Saturday, we could see him in the final pairing on Father’s Day.
