Markelle Fultz has agreed to an endorsement deal with Nike. Fultz is expected to become the first overall pick in the 2017 NBA Draft.

Nike continues to win in a big way representing the NBA’s biggest stars. Fresh off of Kevin Durant’s Finals MVP performance representing the firm, the company made another big splash. Nike has agreed to a multi-year deal with consensus first overall draft pick Markelle Fultz.

Adrian Wojnarowski of the Vertical has reported the news:

Nike also lured in the 2016 first overall pick Ben Simmons to a deal a year ago. LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving, DeMarcus Cousins, and a number of great players are represented by Nike. The biggest apparel company in the world continues to grow as Fultz is regarded as the only sure thing in the 2017 NBA Draft. Esteemed colleague Chris Stone also thinks Fultz is the obvious choice for the Celtics.

After Lonzo Ball decided to do his own thing and start Big Baller Brand, Fultz was a must-get for the shoe companies. The Boston Celtics are expected to make the Washington point guard the first overall pick in Thursday, June 22. It would be a shock if Boston chooses anyone but Fultz but one anonymous general manager did say that he is ‘convinced that Josh Jackson is the pick.’

Markelle Fultz could be the future of the point guard position. At 6-foot-4, Fultz excels in the pick and roll and is already a polished scorer (23.2 points per game in college). Fultz, 19, also has a 7-foot wingspan and could continue to grow. Fultz will be a fun player to watch if the Celtics select him as he could be the eventually replacement for Isaiah Thomas. Can Fultz help Boston dethrone the Cavaliers in the East as soon as next year?
