NFL receiver Michael Floyd has a history of alcohol issues, and has reportedly tested positive for the substance during house arrest.

Michael Floyd’s career with the Arizona Cardinals was derailed after an arrests for Driving Under the Influence in December. Floyd would finish the  season with the New England Patriots, winning Super Bowl LI.  Floyd signed this offseason with the Minnesota Vikings in hope of resurrecting his career playing for his hometown team.

However, reports have surfaced through TMZ and Pro Football Talk that Floyd, currently under house arrest stemming from his DUI arrest, has tested positive for alcohol.

Floyd was arrested on December 12 after being found passed out in the drivers seat of his car.  He would later be charged with Extreme DUI due to driving with a blood alcohol limit of .217. Fox Sports indicated that in terms of a plea agreement included 120 days in jail, 96 of which can be served under house arrest. Floyd was also fined and ordered to community service.

The wide receiver was originally given an alcohol-monitoring ankle bracelet after his house arrest was transferred to Minnesota. However, Floyd asked to have to monitoring anklet removed to enable him to participate in football activities. While the anklet would eventually be removed, Floyd was required to undergo random breathalizer tests.

According to the information in the TMZ piece, Floyd’s breath tests were flagged five times between the dates of June 11-12,. Also, he reportedly skipped a test completely.

Reportedly, Floyd indicated the reason for the positive tests kombucha, a fermented tea that reportedly contains low levels of alcohol.

Floyd is due to appear in court June 26 to address the reports and allegations of “non compliance with alcohol related tests.” If Floyd is found to have violated the terms of his plea deal, he could be headed to jail.
