MLB DFS Value Plays for DraftKings and FanDuel June 16th

I’ll be looking to uncover the most obvious MLB DFS Value Plays on each slate, and each site. Value plays will generally consist of under-priced players, or players priced differently on a given site. Some values will be in play on both sites, some will only be values on one specific site. Note that value tends to carry higher ownership and may be worth a fade in specific GPP contests.

Tonight’s slate features 15 games, with Milwaukee (5.6), Cleveland (5.6), Colorado (5.6), and San Francisco (5.5), holding the best projected team totals. With high priced players available tonight, finding value will be critical to success. Here are a handful of value plays on both DraftKings and FanDuel.

DraftKings MLB Values:

Carlos Beltran – HOU (OF) – $3100

Carlos Beltran offers salary relief tonight, while also maintaining some upside. At only $3100, Beltran is $1500 less than when he was priced in the mid $4000’s a few weeks ago. Beltran is a switch hitter, which mitigates pitcher’s split advantages and still offers some pop in his bat at the age of 40. Hitting conditions in Houston look ideal tonight. As expected, it will be a warm night in the upper 80’s with much more humidity than most games (better for hitters), and the wind will be blowing out to dead center, at around 15 MPH.

Ryan Raburn – WAS (OF) – $2000

This is simply a pricing error on DraftKings, as they have failed to account for Ryan Raburn‘s new role in the two hole for the Nats. With Jayson Werth on the shelf, Raburn was called up, and will be featured in games in which they face left-handed pitching. Raburn holds a .323 wOBA split and a .172 ISO split against lefties. Given his price, his matchup, and his spot in the order, Raburn is one of the best punt plays on the slate.

FanDuel MLB Values:

Corey Seager – LA (SS) – $3700

The LA Dodgers will head to Cincinnati tonight, in a game in which LA is projected to score 5.4 runs. Shortstop, Corey Seager, should benefit from a favorable total, his matchup vs. a righty, and his spot in the order. Seager will face a righty tonight, and on the year, he’s been much more effective against them. He currently holds a .405 wOBA split (.081 better than when facing a lefty) and a .205 ISO split. If he’s batting second, he should offer value at this price.

Mark Reynolds – COL (1B) – $3900

Mark Reynolds is much cheaper on FanDuel tonight, and will be a popular play, given Colorado’s team total and his splits against righties. Reynolds holds a .412 wOBA split and a .265 ISO split against righties, and if he’s batting fourth, he should be involved in some form of run production given Colorado’s projected team total of 5.6 runs. While he’s been fairly quiet of late, he’s actually been hitting the ball slightly better than normal. In the last 15 days, his distance is up 3 feet, his hard hit percentage is up 6%, and his exit velocity is up 2 MPH.

Jose Pirela – SD (2B) – $2800

While FanDuel has finally increased Jose Pirela‘s price, he’s still under-priced on FanDuel, relative to DraftKings. Pirela has been phenomenal since being called up to the big leagues, exceeding fantasy value in nearly every game. He wont have the best match-up against a righty, but should still be considered due to his cheap price and his spot in the order (1st).
