Reggie Bullock and Monta Ellis have each been suspended five games for violations of the NBA Anti-Drug Program.

Detroit Pistons forward Reggie Bullock and Indiana Pacers shooting guard Monta Ellis each drew five-game suspensions without pay for violating the NBA Anti-Drug Program. The suspensions were announced via a press release put out by the league. Josh Eberley of HoopMag tweeted out the release as well, as did Sam Amico of Fox Sports.

No details were given regarding the violations themselves. Ellis and Bullock’s respective suspensions will begin, per the announcement, “with the next NBA regular season game that they are eligible and physically able to play.”

Neither Ellis nor Bullock has commented as of yet.

The 31-year-old Ellis is coming off of one of the worst seasons of his NBA career. He started just 33 of 74 games played in his second season with the Pacers and his 8.5 points per game were his lowest since averaging 6.8 as a rookie back in the 2005-06 season.

Bullock, 26, appeared in just 31 games for the Pistons last season. He averaged 4.5 points over 15.1 minutes per game in his fourth NBA season.

It’s terrible that both men drew drug suspensions, as they will bring up a lot of questions, but the sadder part is that neither will probably be missed by their respective teams.

Ellis, though once a legitimate scoring threat, was nothing more than a bench or rotational player under coach Nate McMillan last season. Bullock has never been more than a man off the far end of the bench since being drafted out of UNC in 2013.

Long story short, both the Pacers and Pistons will surely be more than okay without them for the first five games of the 2017-18 campaign.
