Stephon Marbury will be featured in a movie about his career with the Chinese Basketball Association.

Stephon Marbury is a mystery to many. He was one of the best point guards to ever come out of New York City, but he was never able to make things work perfectly in the NBA. It is a shame that he didn’t achieve success with Kevin Garnett, because that could’ve been a dynamic duo for at least a decade. They had a falling out though, and Marbury ended up bouncing around to four more teams throughout the rest of his career in the league.

It was in China that he finally found his groove. This has resulted in a theatrical play and now a movie. “My Other Home” is the name of the film, and a trailer of it recently came out.

The cinematography here is quite beautiful. It is only scheduled to be released in China at the moment, but that could definitely change based on the response it gets there. Former NBA players Allen Iverson and Baron Davis both make an appearance in the film; however, it seems like Marbury is the true star of the production.

Marbury won three CBA championships with the Beijing Ducks in 2012, 2014 and 2015. Marbury will retire after the 2017-2018 season. He was the fourth overall pick in the 1996 NBA draft, but he failed to win a title with the Minnesota Timberwolves, New Jersey Nets, Phoenix Suns, New York Knicks or Boston Celtics. It was a different story in China. He scored 41 points in the clinching game of his first championship.

Marbury deserves a lot of credit for how much money he has given to charity over the years, and it should be fun to watch what he does when playing basketball is no longer in his life. If he comes back to America, then it will be interesting to see if coaching or media work intrigues him.

He has a green card in China, so staying there could also be an option for him. He’ll always be welcome here, but maybe he is now more comfortable in his other home.
