Sunday brought a lot of names atop the leaderboard that could’ve come away with their first major championship. Who conquered Erin Hills to win the 2017 U.S. Open Championship?

The top of the leaderboard was loaded with names that hadn’t won a major entering the final round at the 117th U.S. Open Championship on Sunday at Erin Hills Golf Course in Wisconsin.

Guys like Brooks Koepka, Hideki Matsuyama, Tommy Fleetwood and Rickie Fowler were among those names that had never won a major championship and in the end, it was America’s Brooks Koepka that just ran away and hid down the stretch to capture his first major championship with a round of -5 (67) on the final day.

Koepka birdied 14, 15 and 16 and finished at -16 overall (!) on the tournament, which tied Rory McIlroy’s mark of -16 overall when he captured the 2011 U.S. Open title. As good as guys like Matsuyama — who shot a 66 on Sunday — and young Xander Schauffele played this weekend, Koepka was just on a mission, missing just 10 greens in regulation over 72 holes.

Koepka was followed by Matsuyama and Brian Harman, who both finished at -12 overall, and Fleetwood, who was the lone player to finish at -11 overall. In all, seven players finished with a score under par of double digits.

Here’s a final look at the leaderboard of the 2017 U.S. Open Championship, starting with first-time major champion Brooks Koepka.
