The Phoenix Suns may be looking to trade up in this years 2017 NBA Draft for the talented but controversial Lonzo Ball.

Lonzo Ball as a basketball player has been compared to NBA legend Jason Kidd. Standing 6-foot-6 and weighing 190 pounds, Ball showed this past season at UCLA he was worth the hype. He averaged 14.6 points, 6.0 rebounds and 7.4 assists a game as a freshman last season.

Of course, the shadow of his father, Lavar Ball, loomed over him, too. His father’s controversial has potentially impacted Lonzo’s draft stock, causing many to speculate whether NBA teams are willing to take the two as a package deal. While the Los Angeles Lakers may select Ball with the second pick in the upcoming NBA Draft, it appears the Phoenix Suns are willing to take a chance on the talented point guard. The Suns currently hold the No. 4 pick, and are willing to trade up to get it, according to ESPN’s Chad Ford (as interpreted by Arizonasports.com).

"The Suns currently hold the fourth overall selection, but as noted in ESPN NBA insider Chad Ford’s most recent mock draft, they would prefer not to stay there.Unfortunately for the Suns, Ford’s mock has neither Lonzo Ball nor Josh Jackson available to them at No. 4, as he has the point guard going to the Lakers at two and the forward to the Celtics (who just trade the No. 1 overall pick to the Philadelphia 76ers) at three"

The Phoenix Suns already posses a point guard in Eric Bledsoe. But, it’s rare a talented point guard like Lonzo Ball emerges in a draft. The Suns most likely will attempt to pair the two in the backcourt together, where both players posses the scoring and passing ability to become a potentially lethal tandem. But, that’s if the Suns can successfully pull off the coup.
