If the New York Giants are to take the next step in 2017, they need their star wide receiver, Odell Beckham Jr. at full strength.

The New York Giants finally made it back to the NFL playoffs last season,  though they were quickly disposed of by the Green Bay Packers. One of the bigger issues in the game was the bad play of wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr., who came under fire for going to Miami to party with Justin Bieber during the off week with some of his teammates. OBJ created another firestorm in the media when he failed to report to voluntary workouts, but he is back with the team, and feels better than he has before any season.

Myles Garrett was the first overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft, and he looks to be a key component to the rebuilding process in Cleveland. Garrett will have to sit out until training camp, however, after suffering a sprained foot. The former Texas A&M star is an explosive defensive end, and coupled with the solid offseason the team had bringing in players, he should make the Browns significantly better in 2017.

The Washington Redskins are having a hard time making a long term commitment to quarterback Kirk Cousins, but former star QB Doug Williams recently said the team wants to work out a lengthy deal in “the worst way.”  The former Super Bowl MVP is currently the head of personnel for the organization, and after the team franchise tagged Cousins the last two years, his job is going to be to lock up the signal-caller. Cousins led the team to an NFC East title back in 2015, and the team barely missed out on the postseason last year.

The saga of Michael Floyd continued this weekend, as the former star wide receiver was flagged for failed alcohol tests. Floyd is currently on house arrest and can’t consume alcohol as part of his probation for a DUI sentence for an incident that happened last December. The Arizona Cardinals released Floyd after the incident, and while he was picked up by the New England Patriots, he did not factor in their Super Bowl run. He signed with his hometown Minnesota Vikings this offseason, but this recent incident now puts his NFL career in jeopardy.

It looks like the running back situation in New Orleans is bringing out the best in both players. The Saints signed All-Pro Adrian Peterson this offseason in hopes that he has some good football left in the tank. They also have star running back Mark Ingram on the roster, who says he is motivated by the fact that Peterson is with the team. If both runners can have good seasons, the added weapon of AP in the backfield could mean an NFC South title for the Saints.
