5 unfortunately plausible Kristaps Porzingis trades that would destroy the Knicks

Knicks Get
D'Angelo Russell
Lakers Get
Kristaps Porzingis

Like the Clippers, the Lakers appear to be a more enticing option given their storied history. Excitement seems to be flowing in L.A. with the return of Magic Johnson. For the first time in years, marquee free agents seem eager to play for the Purple and Gold as Paul George came out and said he prefers to sign with the Lakers next summer.

With Lonzo Ball’s expected entrance, the Lakers could be in the market to move their incumbent point guard D’Angelo Russell. If Magic Johnson doesn’t think Russell is an option for the shooting guard position, it may be wise to move him. Maybe adding a Jordon Clarkson or Julius Randle is enough to sweeten the deal.

If Phil Jackson did get this trade offer he probably could spin this around in a positive way. Maybe he thinks since Russell was taken second overall ahead of Porzingis in the 2015 NBA Draft that he’s actually getting the better player. Russell, 21, did score 15.6 points per game in 2016-17, but only shot 40.5 percent from the field.

The Knicks have been clamoring for a point guard. Is D’Angelo the face of the triangle offense in New York? If the Knicks do in fact have their sights set on Arizona product Lauri Markkanen, Russell could be a logical point guard target. D’Angelo Russell seems to be Phil Jackson’s type of guy. Would Russell start some kind of chaos the way he did with his teammate Nick Young and Iggy Azalea? I’ve talked myself into it; D’Angelo Russell is perfect for the Knicks! Let’s make it happen.
