Which players are the Grizzlies going to bring back?

The Grizzlies have a lot of decisions to make in the next couple weeks. Of the six players who played the most minutes for the team in 2016-17, four of them are free agents. Two of them, Zach Randolph and Tony Allen, make up half of Mount Grizzmore and are the literal faces of the Grit ‘n’ Grind era.

Is this the time for the franchise to pivot? How much value is there in running things back again? Injuries have certainly played a major role, but since they took a 2-1 lead against the Warriors in the 2015 Western Conference Semifinals, the Grizzlies have won less than half of their games (87-90). However, they do have a streak of seven consecutive postseason trips and the dynamic duo of Mike Conley and Marc Gasol are just about as good as any 1-2 tandem in the league (super-teams excluded).

So are fans excited for another trip around the block with the same guys, hoping they can win a single playoff series? Does coach David Fizdale want to be free from any of the strong personalities he inherited? Without a pick in this year’s NBA Draft and with no cap room, is there any hope for improvement that doesn’t involve praying for Chandler Parsons’ knees?

To help answer these questions and figure out what the Grizzlies should do, Peter Edmiston (@peteredmiston) joins Fastbreak Breakfast. Peter is the host of Locked on Grizzlies and a sports columnist for the Commercial Appeal. If he were calling the shots, would he hit the reset button? What does he think is going to happen? Is Grit ‘n’ Grind finally (sorry — it’s mandatory to type this when writing on the internet about the Grizzlies) dead?
