The Los Angeles Lakers pulled off the impossible and found a taker for the Timofey Mozgov contract. What did Twitter have to say about the decision to part with young guard D’Angelo Russell?

The Lakers and Nets pulled off a blockbuster trade in advance of Thursday’s 2017 NBA Draft. The Nets will take on the albatross contract of Timofey Mozgov to secure a young talent like D’Angelo Russell. In exchange, Los Angeles will receive Brook Lopez and the 27th overall pick in the upcoming draft. What did NBA Twitter have to say about the latest trade?

NBA Twitter seems to be in favor of the Nets side of the deal. My personal opinion is that the Lakers won the trade. Having two max contracts for next year is a win. Los Angeles seems to be a logical destination for marquee free agents now.

The Lakers now have the room to add the likes of Paul George and LeBron James a year from now. D’Angelo Russell may also be a bit overrated in my eyes as he only shot 40 percent from the floor this past year. I’m surprised the Lakers found a taker for the Mozgov contract but teams seem willing to eat bad deals in order to add young talent.

Magic Johnson seems to be creating a ton of buzz around Los Angeles. Paul George has made it clear he wants to play for the Lakers and they have now created salary cap space to add him. The latest reports are that L.A. could add Julius Randle and Jordan Clarkson in a deal for the Pacers star.

The Nets frankly have no reason to tank so they added talent any way they possibly could. With Boston holding their first-round pick the next two years, Brooklyn has no incentive to tank. The Jeremy Lin, D’Angelo Russell backcourt seems to add some intrigue to the city.
