Columbus Blue Jackets captain Nick Foligno has won the King Clancy Memorial Trophy. The trophy is awarded annually to the player who best exemplifies leadership qualities on and off the ice, as well as taking into consideration their humanitarian efforts in their respective community.

Foligno is well-known in Columbus for being a great leader and has never had a bad word spoken about him by any of his teammates, the coaching staff or the front office. Foligno set up the Janis Foligno Foundation to raise money for breast cancer awareness and treatment. He started this after his mother, Janis Foligno, passed away due to breast cancer back in July of 2009.

He also donated $1 million to Columbus hospitals this year.

Along with winning the King Clancy, Foligno took home the Mark Messier Leadership Award. This award is given out annually to recognize the NHL player that exemplifies the best qualities of being a leader. Community contributions are also taken into account when giving out this award. It is safe to say that Foligno has won the awards he deserves, showing just how much he means to the Columbus Blue Jackets organization.
