Here are the five biggest comeback concert tours of summer 2017.

Summer is synonymous with live music. Whether it’s a backyard band or a mega music fest, fans eagerly anticipate this season for its iconic outdoor venues and sold out stadium tours. And while pop artists and country crooners are selling seats to showcase their latest singles, many of this summer’s biggest acts are getting back on the road for highly-anticipated comeback tours. In fact, according to VividSeats.com, these music acts from decades’ past rank among the summer’s top-selling tours:

Metallica

The 80s icon of heavy metal is back. Kicking off the U.S. leg of their WorldWired Tour in early April, the band will be rocking stadiums across the country through mid-August with stops in cities including Chicago, Dallas and Denver. And these guys clearly aren’t stuck in the past. Along with their larger-than-life stage presence, they’re on top of their game with pop-up merchandise stores and even giving fans an inside look at concert rehearsals via Facebook Live.

Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers

There’s more than one reason long-time fans are shelling out big bucks to see Tom Petty perform some of his top hits this summer. The singer-songwriter has stated that this 40th Anniversary Tour could be the band’s last big multi-city run. Headlining the BottleRock Festival in Napa over Memorial Day weekend, the tour will then hit 27 cities with more than 30 shows in North America, including stops at iconic venues such as Red Rocks in Morrison, CO and Wrigley Field in Chicago.

Roger Waters

This former Pink Floyd frontman and veteran live performer knows how to put on a show. His concerts are theatrical, sensory-immersive experiences that pay perfect tribute to album favorites. Following up on his highly successful Wall tour, the 2017 Us + Them Tour is his first in many years not themed after a specific Pink Floyd album, and to an overwhelmingly positive response. In February, Waters added eleven new dates to the North American tour, totaling 55 performances culminating in Vancouver on October 28.

Neil Diamond

With music that spans five decades, this Grammy Award-winning, Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Member and worldwide music icon has a fan base so large he could undoubtedly continue to sell out shows beyond his 37-city North American tour. The tour commemorates the 50th anniversary of his first hit “Solitary Man” and will no doubt bring together generations, with fans of all ages celebrating his beloved music.

New Kids on the Block

These 90s kids are still hangin’ tough as they embark on a multi-city tour this summer with former pop chart-toppers, Paula Abdul and Boyz 2 Men. The Boston-born boy band will hit 39 cities on their Total Package tour serving up fan favorites and testing out new songs from their just-released EP, Thankful.
