Yankees’ Aaron Judge invited to MLB All-Star Home Derby

The New York Yankees young sensation Aaron Judge was invited to participate in July 10’s Home Run Derby.

Aaron Judge has had an astonishing start to the season, which has landed him an invitation to one of the best shows in baseball, according to the Associated Press.

Judge leads MLB with 23 home runs. Additionally, he bolsters a .335 batting average and is tied for the AL lead in RBI with 53. Nelson Cruz of the Seattle Mariners has also driven in 53 runs.

On Tuesday, Judge said he received the invitation last week through his agent, but has not yet decided whether or not he will expect.

To be clear, Judge has not yet committed to participating in the Home Run Derby. His highest priority is earning wins for the New York Yankees:

"”I’m just thinking about what I can do for the team right now. I haven’t really thought about it yet.”"

If he chooses to have some fun in the Home Run Derby, Judge will surely have success. He has the sort of raw power that can dominate the event. For example, Giancarlo Stanton won last year’s Home Run Derby in San Diego. Stanton’s style is not all that different from that of the 25-year-old outfielder.

Aaron Judge is a shoe-in as a starter in the outfield for the AL All-Star team, as well. He has earned more than two and a half million votes. The only player to receive more is Bryce Harper of the Washington Nationals, who is just shy of three million. This will be Judge’s first appearance in an MLB All-Star Game since first being called up to the big leagues in August of last season.

The Home Run Derby will be held July 10, one day before the MLB All-Star Game in Miami at Marlins Park.
