Kevin Durant caught a lot of slack from fans outside of California for going to the Warriors last offseason, so he showed his support for those around him.

Kevin Durant may not have a ton of fans outside of those supporting the Golden State Warriors, so KD had to show his appreciation for those around him that helped him out in a unique way.

The Warriors won their second NBA Finals in three years, and Durant won his first Finals MVP with a stellar performance through the series’ five games. The team had the opportunity to win their latest title in front of their hometown crowd at the Oracle Arena, and it seems like that could have been enough of a “thank you”.

Durant took it a step further, and took out a creative ad in the San Francisco Chronicle to thank his teammates, Warriors staff, and the fans in Oakland for the support.

Durant’s ad came with a letter, saying “Thank you, everyone, for making my initial season with the Warriors an incredible and exhilarating championship experience. Great accomplishments are never achieved alone and are best when shared with others.”

The Finals MVP is obviously very appreciative for his new situation in California, and expressed that when he said he would re-sign with the team on a more cap-friendly deal when he opted out of his current deal with the team.

Durant averaged 35.2 points, 8.4 rebounds and 5.4 assists throughout the Finals, and shot 59 percent from the field in the series. Many fans of other teams were upset at him taking the “easy route” to win a championship, but it’s tough to argue with someone putting up those types of numbers and carrying his team to a title.

The ad was a cool move for Durant to pull off to show his support for his Warriors fans, and he may have to take out a few more over the next few years if he and the Warriors keep up their current pace.
