The San Antonio Spurs are reportedly offering LaMarcus Aldridge for a top-10 draft pick.

The San Antonio Spurs signed forward LaMarcus Aldridge to be one of the centerpieces of their franchise in the summer of 2015. Only two years into his tenure with the Spurs, they may be looking to move him.

The Spurs are offering Aldridge in an attempt to acquire a top-10 pick heading into Thursday’s draft, according to a report from AmicoHoops. The report goes on to say one executive said to “watch out” for the Sacramento Kings.

Aldridge was stellar as a member of the Portland Trail Blazers as he averaged at least 21.1 points and 8.0 rebounds in each of his last  five seasons with the team.

The Spurs were hoping that kind of production would help them ease the loss of Tim Duncan, but Aldridge has taken a step backwards. Last season, he averaged 17.3 points, 7.3 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 1.2 blocks per game. His points and rebounds averages were the second worst of his career behind only his rookie season.

Aldridge also struggled in the playoffs last year, as he averaged only 16.5 points and 7.4 rebounds per game.

The Spurs brought Aldridge in on a four-year contract. The fourth year of the deal is a player option, so he could hit the open market again next summer.

The Kings present an interesting option for Aldridge as they traded away All-Star big man DeMarcus Cousins last season. Lacking size up front, he would provide a nice offensive complement to the defensive-minded Willie Cauley-Stein.

The Kings also have the assets to make the deal happen as they own the fifth and tenth picks in the draft. It may not make sense for them to acquire Aldridge, though, with his ability to opt out after next season.

As the Spurs try to figure out how they can surpass the Golden State Warriors, the answer might be trading away the one player who they thought would help continue their winning ways.
